Continuing a busy 2019, which has already seen the band inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Radiohead guitarist Jonny Greenwood recently launched Octatonic Records, which, as stated on the company’s Facebook page is “geared towards championing contemporary classical music.” Green noted that his decision to form the label came after getting to know and working with leading composers of major films. Currently, the label is offering orders of limited vinyl pressings of their first releases, Volume One and Volume Two. The digital versions dropped on September 24th while the vinyl versions came out on October 4th.

Octatonic is set to focus on collaborations and multi-instrument performances rather than single-artist and single-instrument performances. Greenwood also noted, his “intention is to capture these musicians playing the pieces they love, both contemporary and ancient, and release the recordings on vinyl and streaming services.”

Native to Oxford, Greenwood is no stranger to film, video games, experimental music, or composing and arranging music for film. Among other work, in 2017, he was at the helm of the music for Daniel Day Lewis’ last movie before retirement, Phantom Thread.
